David Adams is a Senior Editor at Univision News, and is also responsible for English language content. He was previously Miami bureau chief for Thomson Reuters, leading coverage of the Southeast US and Caribbean.
Adams came to the United States in the summer of 1992 and his first story was covering Hurricane Andrew's devastation in South Florida. He spent 15 years as the Miami-based Latin America correspondent of the Tampa Bay Times, Florida’s largest newspaper. During a career spanning three decades he has covered the civil wars in Central America, the U.S. invasion of Panama, the Zapatista uprising in Mexico and other historic events in Cuba and Haiti.
In 2002, Adams was awarded the prestigious Maria Moors Cabot prize by Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism for outstanding reporting on Latin America and commitment to Inter-American understanding. In 1999 he was awarded the Paul Hansell Distinguished Journalism Award, the top journalism prize in Florida presented by the Florida Society of Newspaper Editors.
